WORLD REFUGEE DAY-26th June

WORLD REFUGEE DAY-26th June World refugee day was celebrated by Oikonomia, department of economics on 26th june,2023. World Refugee Day is an international day designated by the United Nations to honour refugees around the globe. It falls each year on June 20 and celebrates the strength and courage of people who have been forced to flee their home country to escape conflict or persecution. Department of economics celebrated the day by arranging a film screening which showcases the plight of refugees. "The boy in the striped pajamas" was the name of the movie screened. The session was inaugurated by Sajmeer Sir, HOD of Department of Economics. An introduction about the movie was given by Fathima Fidha of 3rd Economics. It was a movie released in 2008 directed by Mark Herman. The movie was screened in seminar hall at 11 30 am. The movie shows the sad and poor condition of German jews in the concentration camp. The movie demonstrates an innocent friendship between a german boy and a jew child. They disregards all the divisions created by humans in the form of war. The movie shows how difficult it was for refugees to survive the cruel Nazi regime. The movie screening ended with a feedback presented by Fathima Fidha from 2nd Economics.
