The Department of English is one of the departments in the college which got established at the very inception of the college in 2015. At present, the department provides Bachelors degree in English Language and Literature with journalism and British History as complementary course.

                 The Department aims at offering opportunities to explore literature and language across cultures, to motivate students to be responsible citizen and make every student humane. The course inspires an aesthetic appreciation for English literature and language, cultivates intellectual curiosity, creativity and desire for lifelong learning and inculcates effective use of English in creative expressions and day-to-day life.

                The Complefmentary course, Journalism helps the interested students to pursue the media studies, and British history cements the foundations in English literature. The department has various platforms like English Club, Media Club, Debate Club etc, which give the students opportunities to reflect their skills in language and literature. We also persuade, motivate and help the students for the competitive exams and to pursue their higher education in reputed colleges and central universities.

The total intake of the department is 36 and those who have passed in HSE or equivalent are eligible to apply for the course. The admission procedures  for the programme are conducted as per the University guidlines under Centralised Admission Process( CAP). The Directorate of Admissions (DOA), University of Calicut, has recognized the college as a Nodal Office for CAP registration. Students can avail the help of the college for the purpose of CAP registration.
